Legislative Report, 19 January 2005
This date will be remembered as a crucial turning point in the history of the Saskatchewan Party.
On Wednesday, January 19th, Brad Wall released the results of the most extensive policy review ever conducted by the Saskatchewan Party. “This is a new era for the party,” Wall said. “These resolutions address in very practical ways the priorities of all Saskatchewan families”.
Wall says the Saskatchewan Party is building from its strength as a group with a strong and progressive vision for a growing provincial economy. The money generated from that economic engine will be used to provide the dollars needed to pay for health care, education, decent roads, and to help those less fortunate.
Highlights from the package include:
For the past ten months, under the leadership of Cypress Hills MLA Wayne Elhard, the Policy Review Committee went across Saskatchewan. They wanted to hear what ideas people had for making Saskatchewan a better place.
They heard from hundreds of people with differing points of view including First Nations leaders, young people, farm families, community leaders, health care workers and industry experts.
Wall says this is not the end, but just the beginning of the process. The work of the committee will now be presented to delegates attending the Saskatchewan Party’s 2005 Annual Convention for evaluation.
“I’m looking forward to an interesting and healthy debate at the convention,” Wall said. “We have to listen to the membership, because it is their party.”
